Mechatronic components for machine tools

Highly concentrated functionalities which may be realised by combining classical production engineering equipment with information technology capabilities determines the trends achieved in manufacturing technology. The consequent implementation of this developmental idea finally leads to mechatronic solutions with local or decentralised intelligence. In the paper, motivations, approaches and solutions for improvement of the machine tool behaviour by Mechatronic components are presented.
