Title

Forming of Polymeric Tubular Microcomponents

Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of three nontraditional shaping technologies for forming polymeric microtubes, which are hot embossing, blow molding, and cross-rolling, as well as realization of a process chain and the integration of a modular manufacturing platform for the production of functional polymeric tubular microcomponents. The chapter begins with discussing the current market and trends in process development, followed by a detailed description of the materials, process configurations, tool design, and machine development associated with each technology. In addition, it outlines strategies for integrating these technologies into a reconfigurable manufacturing platform. Finally, potential applications for the developed technologies and facilities are highlighted.
