Title

Suitability of modified supercritical carbon dioxide as solvent for polar substances

Abstract
The influence of modifiers due to better soly. of polar substances was studied in the supercrit. fluid extn. with CO2 regarding manufg. techniques for explosives like the RESS- or GAS-process. Dynamic supercrit. fluid extn. of PETN, nitroguanidine (NIGU), and RDX, resp., with pure and modified CO2 indicated that all explosives except NIGU were extd. though for RDX and 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazole the use of modifiers proved to be necessary. The results show the high capacity of modified supercrit. CO2 as a solvent in RESS- and GAS-processes.
