Feasibility of automatic testing and visual testing of CGI

The first report presents some initial thoughts on automatic testing. It looks in detail at the case of straight lines, and tries to characterise a line in a way that can be tested automatically. It also looks at some simple graphical operations such as clipping and segment visibility, and presents some practical experience of testing these features automatically. It is expected that immediate developments in the CGI testing process will be in the direction of visual checking of output by a human tester. The second report therefore seeks to cover both the design of the required test software and the design of the user interface - the interaction between the tester and the validation software - for this checking process.
