Abstract
In a common investigation of ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Fraunhofer-Institut for Strength of Structures under Operational Conditions LBF constant as well as variable amplitude fatigue tests on induction hardened transmission axles made from the steel Ck 35 mod. of an automatic gearbox were carried out. The target of the project was to evaluate the safety reserves of the axles and to apply several selected methods to assess fatigue life, to compare these methods and to give hints for future developments of components.
