Gyroscope Stabilized Electronic Compass System

Reliable compass systems have many applications like navigation aid, industry automation, driverless vehicles and so on. There are short time disturbances of the measured values of the earth magnetic field and acceleration, in the second to minute range, that can not be avoided. It has been successfully demonstrated, that the combination of an electronic compass unit and three orthogonal mounted gyroscopes is a solution of this problem. For reasonable costs a small system running from battery power was realized with display and computer interface.
