Iodide determination with chalcogenide glass electrodes

The fabrication and characterisation of potentiometric chalcogenide glass electrodes with selectivity for iodide in aqueous media are reported. While such probes are already known for the determination of a number of cations using various fabrication technologies, this is not yet the case for anions. Specifically, the fabrication process of the novel glasses and their investigation by means of a number of physico-chemical methods as well as their fabrication into usable sensors and their testing are described.
