Simulation of complex image processing systems

The implementation of such systems from the algorithm to the highly integrated electronic equipment requires, for reasons of cost, an exact preliminary analysis of the system behaviour. This is possible, for example, advantageously with a computer-aided hierarchical simulation. The procedure for this is explained and illustrated by a system developed at the author's Institute for motion-compensating format conversion of high-resolution TV images.
