Title

Eco-design - New part of technological integration

Abstract
This paper explains "How to deal successfully with EU-policy and legislation and how to carry out Eco-design in praxis". The basic steps for implementation of Eco-design are described in this paper. There are some fundamental steps described, what to do and how to do single decisions to start with eco-design of electronic products as following: Ecological product principles and profiles; Methods and tools for Eco-design; Strategies on implementing Eco-design. Importance of Eco-design and general approach is explained in this paper. All managers, engineers and technicians must understand the environmental management has to be involved in the near future in electronics sector similar as quality management some years ago. Other example is study of PC life-cycle. The production, including raw materials acquisition and transportation, requires approximately 535 kWh of primary energy. An average figure for the lifetime of a PC might be 4 years and within this time, average us e patterns lead to approx. 1,600 kWh of primary energy consumption. With state-of-the-art recycling technologies a major proportion of the materials can be recovered.
