Title

Tracking of Hypersonic Glide Vehicles: Radar Resource Load Reduction by using a Non-Ballistic Reentry Process Model

Abstract
Because of their maneuverability, speed and altitude, Hypersonic Glide Vehicles (HGV) present a serious threat to today's air defence systems. In this article the impact of hypersonic maneuvers on the tracking performance is investigated using the Cognitive Radar Simulator (CoRaSi). A new implementation of tracking filters with a non-ballistic reentry model is compared to their traditional counterparts. With the new implementation of a generic HGV process model, a significant reduction in radar resource load has been achieved.
