Rising costs and climate change are forcing us to rethink how we use resources. Resource-saving development processes such as lightweight design are in demand across industries. However, the knowledge of lightweight optimization is often not or only implicitly available. To emphasize the added value of lightweight design, it takes approaches that provide solution knowledge. Therefore, an approach for the pattern-based development of lightweight products was developed.
