Abstract
The activities of the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research in Braunschweig focus - within the framework of the mural painting project - on the semi-quantitative determination of the material moisture using the infrared thermography. The surfaces are heated by a short-term heat impulse and through the relative temperature distribution of the surface differences in moisture in the layers near the surface are visualized. The development of the system as well as of the measuring methods are carried out parallel to the concrete estimation of the object. First results of these examinations are a subject matter of this contribution.
