Surface-induced all-optical nonlinear optical processes in liquid crystals: Mechanisms and devices

Abstract
We report on several all-optical nonlinear optical phenomena in nematic liquid crystals. The all-optical response can be used in a variety of devices, and is due to charging effects at the surface.
