Büroarbeit neu denken - eine post-pandemische Perspektive

Der COVID-19-Pandemie wurde mit Lockdowns und einer massiven Umsetzung von Homeoffice begegnet, wodurch bestehende Arbeitsweisen und als selbstverständlich angesehene Vorgehensweisen infrage gestellt wurden. In diesem Beitrag nutzen wir die Pandemie als Prisma für eine Neubewertung der Büroarbeit, was uns ermöglicht, Bekanntes auf neue Weise zu sehen. Als ein Ergebnis erkennen wir, dass Homeoffice üblicher und sich auf einem höheren Niveau als vor der Krise etablieren wird. Wir gehen auch davon aus, dass die Arbeit im Büro weiterhin Vorrang haben wird, da viele etablierte organisatorische Prozesse, sowohl formell als auch informell, auf Kollokation basieren. Die Zukunft der Büroarbeit ist jedoch offen, da sie von einer Vielzahl von Akteuren und Entwicklungen geprägt wird. Dies hat auch außerhalb der unmittelbaren Büroarbeit Auswirkungen auf Bereiche wie Verkehr und Stadtplanung. Die Entwicklung der post-pandemischen Büroarbeit ist ein kontinuierlicher Entwicklungsprozess, der lokale Anpassungen erfordert und von normativen Überlegungen getragen wird. Deshalb schlagen wir Nachhaltigkeit als normatives Gestaltungsprinzip für post-pandemische Büroarbeit vor.

The COVID-19 pandemic was met with lockdowns and a massive deployment of working from home, whereby existing working practices and taken-for-granted procedures were challenged. In this article, we use the pandemic as a prism for reassessing office work, which allows us to see familiar things in new ways. As one of the results, we foresee that working from home will become more of a regular practice, and at higher levels than before the crisis. We nevertheless expect that colocated work will retain its primacy, since many established organizational processes, both formal and informal, are built around co-location. The future of office work is open-ended, since it is shaped by a multitude of players and developments. Postpandemic office work has also implications outside the immediate office realm, on areas like transportation and urban planning. The development of post-pandemic office work is a continuous process that requires local adaption. It is permeated by normative considerations, for which we propose to apply the principle of sustainability as a normative guide for developing post-pandemic office work.
