Title

Grid system for solving computing bottlenecks in semiconductor industries at the example of an AMHS

Abstract
This paper describes how grid systems can be used in the semiconductor manufacturing to solve computing bottlenecks mostly arise in the scheduling and simulation of the material handling. The Fraunhofer IPA developed for that purpose a Grid System for the Semiconductor Industry that is able to solve automated material handling system (AMHS) problems in an acceptable time. By implementing a grid service for a distributed calculation of MaxFlow algorithms the robustness of an AMHS layout can be evaluated by simulating possible failures that can appear in the fabs AMHS. AFter the structure of the actual grid system is shown, a possible solution applicable in the semiconductor industries is drafted.
