Title
The need of perceptual hashing techniques for music scores
Abstract
Access to music scores can be regarded as one of the important sources for arts and development of human musical culture as music scores are the fundamentals for playing music. Therefore, the distribution of music scores via the Internet has a strong influence on the improvement of cultural development and cultural exchange. Among the problems that arise when dealing with music scores and their distribution in digital format are the protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and the identification of music sheets for efficient information retrieval. In this article we show how perceptual hashing techniques, which are also known as a fingerprinting techniques, are addressing these problems and how they can be developed for music scores.
