Abstract
Todays requirements for lithium-ion batteries in terms of durability and safety for automotive applications steadily increase. One aspect is cost awareness over a complete life cycle in EV and HEV battery systems. But also ensuring quality for series production from cell level to system level requires new and fast methods for quality validation. This paper gives an outlook if innovative sensor conecpts and new methods for winding simulation can support improved cell designs with higher peak currents and optimzed application parameters for the same safety level
