Other Title
Selected developmental trends in the manufacture of thermally sprayed ceramic coatings
Abstract
The application of thermally sprayed ceramic coatings with a typical thickness of 100-500 micro m has a long tradition. Many coatings consist of the system Al2O3-Cr2O3-TiO2. This system has a variety of properties and allows for the manuf. of wear resistant coatings, elec. insulating coatings, and conductive ceramic coatings. This article describes the state-of-the-art technol. as a combination of material and coating technol., and presents new developments for coatings of this system. Spraying of suspensions is a new trend which offers the possibility to apply very fine primary particles to realize nanoscale coatings.
