Title

Application of Pulsed Video Thermography for Materials Characterization

Abstract
Pulsed video thermography is applied for detection of the tendency of chilling in cast iron components. Contrast source is the low thermal conductivity of the cementite phase. Stepped wedges of grey cast iron and caliper holders were tested. The chilled areas are becoming visible in the thermographic image about 50 ms after the heating pulse.
