Konsequenzen aus dem Altlastfall Bielefeld-Brake

In 1989, the remedy measures of the hazardous waste disposal in Bielefeld-Brake will begin. This article summarizes the findings of comprehensive investigation programs of the last five years, which finally led to the decision of remedy. Besides toxicological-epidemiological cross section studies among the inhabitants and neighbours and investigations of the content of this landfill, several analytical programs were conducted in order to detect possible emission routes. Though the involved population showed medical remarkabilities in a statistically significant amount, the responsible emission route of hazardous substances could not be localized definitely. The necessary remedial measures are discussed.
