The development of fiber and integrated-optical sensors has progressed worldwide. Downlead insensitive sensor concepts as well as sensor networks with the aim of passive multiplexing several sensors with the aim of reducing the cost per sensing function are within the focus of actual work. The paper presents several recent developments in this promising sensor field.
