Blisters filled with tablets are checked by a sensor-system based on the fast image analysis system SAM. The television pictures of the blisters are analysed by using a multi-level threshold method. All serious defects as missing or interchanged tablets are detected. Other defects as broken tablets, spots, missing prints or additional little pieces are detected with high reliability. The inspection time depends on the number of tablet-classes inside one blister. For example, 24 blisters of an one-class-product and 4 blisters of a three-class-product are checked in one second.
