IKARUS - Vorstellung des Teilprojektes 6 - Industrie
Abstract
IKARUS is a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Research and Technology (BMFT). The principle goal of this project is to support science, government, industry and associations/trade unions in formulating strategies for the reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions. Particular attention is being paid to the use of energy, and here to CO2 emissions involved in the use of fossil energy sources, in particular. In order to evolve an overall strategy, a suitable set of instruments is being developed in the form of computer programmes and a comprehensive data base. The data base contains technology, energy, economy and ecology data on current and future technologies and systems for the Federal Republic of Germany (the area of the former GDR is included). For the industrial sector, single-technology analyses are confined to aboud 20 production processes in highly energy-intensive branches, especially of basic industry. Less energy-intensive lines and branches are summari sed. One of the main tasks of the poject's second stage will be the incorporation of the industrial non energy consumption of fossil energy sources.
