Abstract
The House of Computer Graphics with a total of more than 200 graduated engineers and scientists and a turnover of approximately 40 million Deutsch Marks is world-wide the biggest research institute dedicated to Computer Graphics. It is a network of several institutes in Europe and the United States all directed by Prof. Jose L. Encarnacao. Important new aspects and trends of Computer Graphics research and development are a. o. visualisation, simulation and animation of living structures, visualisation and user guidance in mobile computing as well as security aspects of data communications, e.g. the digital watermark. The institutes outside of Darmstadt which are located in Coimbra, Portugal, Providence, USA and Rostock, Germany are important partners for testing the developed network technology and data communication tools in a real environment. This is supplemented by applications for the Internet, the World Wide Web, other online services and developments based on Java and VRML. Moreover, the House of Computer Graphics is a leading institute in the area of Virtual Reality.
