Due to law, public opinion and the influence of the market, enterprises will be forced to dedicate themselves more and more to environmental protection. For this purpose the production-integrated environmental protection offers support to optimize the environmental performance simultaneously to the realisation of economic objectives. The present restraints, that are opposed to an integrated environmental protection, consist nearly exclusively of problems with information an organisation. These problems are considered by the Fraunhofer-IA0 within the project "OPUS" (Organization Models and Informationsystems for a Production-integrated environmental Protection).
