Environmental data and dynamic traffic scenarios for the efficient testing of vehicle systems Umgebungsdaten und Dynamische Verkehrsszenarien zur Effizienten Erprobung von Fahrzeug-Systemen

Abstract
Simulation and virtual environments already play an essential role in the efficient and reliable development, testing and validation of vehicle systems and functions, such as driver assistance systems. In view of the advancing trend towards automated or autonomous driving, this relevance will still increase in the future. Virtual environments for simulation must be sufficiently realistic and should include methods to adequately represent real variations and scatters also virtually. In this paper, we present tools and methods to generate virtual environments from different types of environmental data, and we also present a dynamic traffic simulation that can enrich the virtual environments with realistic traffic.
