Visual exploration of architectural metric data evolution

One of the main challenges in the maintenance of software systems is to ascertain the underlying software structure, derive relevant metrics, and to analyze its evolution. In previous work, we developed a tool that assists software architects, analysts, and developers to understand the software structure of their system but more importantly to track these structural changes over time. In this paper, we describe how to extend our tool to track the evolution of software metrics or quality.
