Limitations of phase noise cancellation due to time delay and filtering

Two phase noise cancellation schemes for coherent systems are analyzed. A penalty of less than 1 dB can be achieved when the conditions, IF-linewidth-delay time product Delta nu tau <0.04 and the IF-filter bandwidth BIF>10. Delta nu , are satisfied.
