Preparation, joining and packaging concepts for high power fiber lasers

Abstract
We report on preparation, joining and packaging of photonic crystal fibers for high power applications. Fusion splices of air-clad fibers with losses down to 0.03dB and a transmitted pump power of 3.2 kW are obtained.
