High modal discrimination for laser resonators with Gaussian output beam
Abstract
A laser resonator design is presented which allows the generation of Gaussian output beam and at same time high discrimination of higher order modes. The design leads to a short resonator length and the stability of laser operation in the presence of fluctuations of the thermal lens of the laser medium is comparable to the one for conventional dynamic stable resonators. The resonator behaviour is demonstrated by Fox-Li calculations.
