Title

Systematic approach of upscaling aircraft parts and sub-modules to aircraft level

Abstract
Aircrafts are complex product systems containing various supply chains, high grade and specific materials as well as specially customised processing technologies for their part production. Therefore only selective Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) exists containing certain parts or an estimation of an aircraft. The challenge is to model such a complex product with limited information. Therefore a methodology was developed characterising known aircraft parts to use them in order to complement missing information on aircraft parts, where detailed information is not available. Consequently it has to be addressed how parts have to be related to their material composition and the module they belong to. The presentation deal with the systematic approach by adapting material and process chains related to their functionality in the production phase and quantifies environmental impacts in the aviation sector on a sound basis.
