Title
Sensor guided robots in precision assembly - examples, developments and trends
Abstract
Sensors increase possible applications of industrial robots in the assembly of precision engineered products. Assembly utilisations exist to supervise the gripping and part mating process, for tolerance compensation and for control and test tasks. Besides the growing needs for flexible assembly systems, process-supervision and control to increase the output quality are especially demanding to robot tools, which in turn have to be supervised using a variety of sensors. This report shows the actual techniques, developments and trends in the assembly of precision engineered products with sensor guided robots and clarifies these, using the choice of new applications.
