Flame retardants towards application - current issues in assessment and material testing

To bring flame retardants into the application, many aspects besides the flame-retardant effect of a molecule and material performance must be considered. Competitiveness and production/product performance are always key. However, material requirements are not always known, and safe-and-sustainable-by-design approaches are becoming increasingly important - even in a very early development phase of a flame retardant molecule. Here we present insights into current issues based on ongoing projects.
