Title
Inkjet-printing of an organic photodiode with optical filter for fluorescent measurement in LoC systems
Abstract
For on-chip function integration in microfluidic lab-on-a-chip systems low-cost manufacturing is essential. In this contribution an under ambient conditions fully inkjet-printed organic photodiode (OPD) is presented. This OPD shows a high on/off ratio of 104 and is thus suitable for use in microfluidic lab-on-a-chip systems. Furthermore, different approaches to solution processing of light filters are investigated to introduce a light detector for fluorescent light detection. The investigated colorants and nanoparticles show good filtration properties covering all parts of the visible light spectrum. In addition the combination of colorants with PEDOT: PSS can simplify the whole device manufacturing process by generating light filtration properties into the transparent electrode of the OPD. Using nanoparticles for light filtration could increase the fluorescent response of the analyte investigated in microfluidic systems by reflecting the excitation light back into the microfluidic channel.
