Mobile TV - development, adaptation and broadcast of regional mobile content

Mobile TV is a new way to consume media. The mobile device being a multi-media platform demands for more than just legacy TV services. To satisfy these needs, the production of content for mobile devices has to consider a broader scope - including changes in the scripting, camera work and editing. In addition to the smaller display the modified context of use imposes a major challenge. Guidelines are presented for Mobile TV content creators. A modified workflow is outlined which optimizes the production process and reflects the special character of Mobile TV content. Following the proposed guidelines yields a new flavour of content that is ready for mobile. The efficiency of the proposed guidelines has been evaluated during the European Mobile TV - Workshop at the CIRCOM Annual Conference 2008 in Maribor, Slovenia. The results are also discussed in this contribution.
