The Join'EM project: How to join dissimilar metals with electromagnetic welding

The article discusses how many companies have come together to start the JOIN'EM project that seeks components made completely out of copper using electromagnetic welding. It adds that it will find benefit in being substituted by copper-to-aluminum or copper-to-steel hybrid parts. It adds that one of the first set of experiments within the JOIN'EM project was on copper-to-steel tubular joints, using copper tubes and cold worked carbon steel rods and tubes.
