Topical ecological challenges of the wood-based panel industry

During the last 20 years, the wood based panel industry has succeeded in solving problems such as reductions of formaldehyde emissions of wood-based panels or reduction of particle dryer emissions. New reduction technologies also offer the possibility to avoid disturbing VOC and odour emissions. Topical challenges are the use of recycled wood as raw material and the thermal utilisation of waste wood. Further tasks are the development of products with lower material input and improved technical properties.
