Title

Organic compounds in clouds

Abstract
A method for the analysis of organic compounds in the gas- and liquid phase of clouds is reported. The liquid phase is collected with a high volume-flow impactor. The gas phase is sampled with four scrubber units using the impactor as inlet. We investigated the water/air partitioning of phenol, 2-nitrophenol (2-NP), 2,4-dinitrophenol (2,4-DNP), 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and 2,4-dinitro-6-methyl-phenol (DNOC). Analysis was performed by GC-MS using deuterated internal standards. Partitioning coefficients alpha derived from the experiment are compared with calculated alpha values.
