Title

Die Dungfliegen -Sphaeroceridae- des Sauerlandes - Beitrag zur Kenntnis der Dipterenfauna Westfalens

Abstract
In 1988 a large quantity of Diptera was caught in the South Westphalian mountain range (Sauerland) mainly by using a net that was mounted on the top of a car, but also by netting and the use of pitfall-traps. Out of the great number of different Dipteran families the lesser dung flies (Sphaeroceridae) were taken out. 71 species were found, five of them were recorded in Germany for the first time and one species was new for the western part of Germany (the former BRD). The Dipteran fauna of Westphalia is only very poorly known, so this is the first published Westphalian fauna of Sphaeroceridae.
