Title

Analog GHz transmission over large core fibres for DVB-satellite links or sophisticated coding schemes

Abstract
The authors describe an analog transmission system with high linearity. Utilizing a red DVD laser and a large-area silicon PIN receiver in addition with special equalizer circuitry it offers high bandwidth and two quite flat windows in frequency response. This is suitable to conduct transmission tests over large core fibers using multi-carrier signals. As a demonstration, digital satellite intermediate signals are sent over 1 mm GI-PMMA-POF. In the future, this system will be used for further fiber measurements as well as for transmission experiments inside the EU-funded project POF-All. First tests using a DMT (discrete multi-tone) signal for transmission of very high bitrates are already being performed within the project POF-ALL.
