Title

Development and validation of the HMI of the sensation Hypovigilance Management System

Title Supplement
Results of an empiric study
Abstract
Hypovigilance or sleepiness is one main cause for severe accidents in different fields of application, e.g. in shift work. In this context, Hypovigilance Management Systems (HVMSs), which measure hypovigilance and warn the user accordingly, can increase safety. In this paper, the methodical development of the Human Machine Interface (HMI) of such a system is described. Furthermore, the evaluation of the system in an empirical experiment is presented. It is deduced that HVMSs can increase work safety, although short term effects are difficult to show.
