Title

Thermal decomposition of nano-structured carbon

Abstract
Various carbonaceous materials, like charcoal, soot and graphite were used as components in energetic materials to act as fuel, catalyst or inhibitor. Currently, high interest is in the use of nano-scaled carbon types like fullerene C60, nano-diamonds, carbon nanotubes and graphenes for applications in propellants explosives or pyrotechnics. Samples from these materials were investigated by thermal analysis and evaluated for the derivation of kinetic parameters for the oxidation. Depending on the type and the additives the oxidation spreads out in a very broad range of temperature intervals.
