Abstract
Summary form only given. Mode-locked semiconductor lasers may be used for numerous applications in optical signal processing. We provide an overview on various realizations of mode-locked semiconductor lasers for optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) systems. We mainly concentrate on an external cavity mode-locked semiconductor laser that was developed in our laboratory.
