Title
Including weather forecasts in routing decisions of navigation systems for road vehicles: The users' view
Abstract
Weather conditions can have a substantial impact on driving speed. It can therefore be useful to take weather forecasts into consideration when calculating the optimal route in navigation systems for road vehicles. However, weather forecasts come along with an inherent inaccuracy, which raises the question if drivers will accept and use such a service. Based upon results from four focus group interviews with 20 participants, this paper analyzes how drivers view routing recommendations based on weather forecasts, and how weather-related route changes shall be best communicated to the users.
