Remote herd health monitoring
Title Supplement
Poster presented at the 7th European Conference on Wireless Sensor Networks (EWSN)
Abstract
The European project "Wireless Accessible Sensor Populations" (WASP) aims to develop cost-efficient solutions to facilitate WSN deployment and application-driven optimization. To test and validate WASP solutions, actual test bed deployments are being developed for elderly care and herd health monitoring. This poster focuses on the herd health deployment trials that are tuned to remotely monitor the activity behavior of dairy cows and are conducted in a test farm in Lelystad (The Netherlands). Besides herd health trials relevant for farmers, various technology trials are being conducted to test and stress the WASP solutions e.g. for remote uploading of services and subscriptions and for trading-off (network) quality of service and energy-efficient node operation. A small demo illustrating the herd health system will be given at the poster.
