Title

Glassensoren - Wirkungsdosimeter für die Umweltforschung

Abstract
An easy-to-handle and low-cost method (the "glass sensor method") was developed to assess complex environmental stresses. The technique is based on corrosion-sensitive potassium-lime-silicate-glasses, which act as "dosimeter materials", summarizing the synergetic impacts of climatic and pollution influences. Examples are given for the broad spectra of applications in the field of monument conservation, but pilot projects in environmental research in general are presented as well.
