Simulation-based configuration and animation of production systems via the Internet

In the face of an increasing demand for customized products, configuration systems are getting more and more important. Most interesting are configurators that can be accessed via the Internet. They can be used by sales representatives and customers independent of location and time. In this paper, a new electronic service for configuration, simulation and animation of production systems is considered. Thus, production systems can be offered, tested and optimized via the Internet.
