Title

Systems for monitoring and analysing torsional vibrations in turbine generator shaft lines

Abstract
In this paper systems for monitoring of torsional vibrations of turbine generator shaft lines are presented and compared. Beside the differences in the tasks the systems can fulfil, they mainly differ in the measurement equipment and the underlying concepts. The concepts compared here are pure measurement systems, simulation-based monitoring systems and observer-based monitoring systems. It is be pointed out that an observer-based system is able to compensate several disadvantages of a pure simulation-based approach and overall provides the largest amount of information to operation companies of power plants.
