Title
Compensation of contour violation in 3D waterjet cutting
Title Supplement
Cost-efficient machining of 3D components using a new waterjet concept - "JetCut3D"
Abstract
Modern, high-performance products are becoming ever more complex and are characterized by the in-creasing use of conventionally difficult-to-machine high-performance materials. In order for companies to remain competitive, production times and manufacturing costs must be further reduced at the same time as quality and flexibility requirements increase. The waterjet is a particularly flexible and powerful tool for machining difficult-to-machine materials. However, 3D waterjet cutting is difficult to handle, especially for more complex machining tasks, and has therefore been used thus far in industry mainly for relatively simple cutting tasks. In addition, technological development is lagging with regard to future-oriented features of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) processes and in direct comparison with other processes such as milling, which represents an additional hurdle in the acceptance of waterjet machining for many companies.
