VDA 5050 - Eine Analyse und Einordnung

Automated guided vehicles are playing an increasingly important role in intralogistics. They are flexible, reliable and safe. Manufacturers supply a wide range of these systems and also driverless transport vehicles in order to meet requirements, however varied they may be. The control system and the communication between it and the driverless transport vehicles is a central element. The master controller controls the vehicles and assigns them their orders.
Until now, manufacturers have relied on proprietary software and hardware, which has led to major differences. Currently, it is therefore usually not possible for the master controller and the vehicles of two different manufacturers to communicate with each other. This has various disadvantages for the industry, such as high manufacturer dependency and great difficulty in im plementing new vehicles in an existing automated guided vehicle system. This is where VDA 5050 comes in. It proposes a communication interface to standardize the communication between the control system and the vehicles. In this paper, the current communication standards are sum marized. The standards are also analyzed with a utility analysis and compared with VDA 5050
